If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. ~ Luke 9:23
We must give up our own way and our excuses. Christ didn’t say to get a hold of your life and fix it before you follow Him. He didn’t say to give Him a list of things that must change in order for you to follow Him.
If only I didn’t have this infirmity…
If only I had more time…
If I had more money…
Maybe later when I have my life together, I will follow You…
Excuses aren’t things that should stop us from following Him. They are crosses we must take up. They are a part of following Him. When we take them up, He helps us carry them. Then we are following Him.
We don’t have to be unencumbered to follow Him. Trying to get our life together first will leave us tethered to everything we see.
He will carry our burdens when we follow Him. He will loose those chains.
Christ will make us truly free when we follow Him.
