There is definitely a downside to being overly sensitive, at least when you’re talking about being overly worried about how other people think about you and your actions. This is pride because you’re thinking of yourself too much and it needs to be repented of when you notice it. But…there is also a good side to being a very sensitive.
I find it easy to put myself in another person’s shoes and think deeply about what it could be like to walk out their life. When I do this, I gather great insight about their personal battles. Everyone has battles even the people that appear to have it all together. No one’s life is perfect and everyone struggles in one way or another.
The information that I gather during this process gives me more empathy and compassion for the person. Compassion helps me to treat that person with the respect they deserve instead of getting upset because they don’t do things the way I would do them. It also helps me to pray for the person instead of grumbling and complaining about them.
This is my way of living out the concept of bearing another’s burdens in Galatians 6:2.
