I often try to make my daily tasks follow a formula. It seems organized to do task #1 at 6:00am, task #2 at 6:30am, task #3 at 7:00am, etc., etc. And sometimes this does work out. It’s a plan and sometimes I can follow it.
But other times, I get thrown off schedule. Life happens and it often doesn’t happen on my schedule. I end up feeling frustrated and giving up a lot of my planned activities simply because I am off schedule.
I don’t have to give up all together and wait for tomorrow to start over. I can still get some of those tasks done. I can continue onward and by the end of the day I will probably get done most of what I’d planned to do. It may not be at the exact time that I had planned, but the important thing is to get it done. Not when but what.
I can make the most of each precious day because tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone. I can fit in as much good into my day as possible, no matter what time it is. And then forgive myself for some things that will inevitably be missed. Maybe I can get those things done the next day. The Holy Spirit can equip me to do what’s necessary each day and sometimes a few extra things as well.
Living by the Spirit’s Power
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. ~ Ephesians 5:15-17
Use a planner but trust God with details of each day.
