No diet in the world can help me to lose weight and keep the weight off unless I first change my thinking. The first step in any healthy eating plan should be to think about why I gained weight in the first place. Did I eat when I was sad? Did I eat when I was bored? Did I eat when I was excited? None of these reasons are an acceptable reason to eat. The only reasonable reason to eat is because my stomach is empty and I need energy.
But…this doesn’t mean that I can’t enjoy the food that I do eat. I can enjoy food very much. What I have to look at is the motivation of why I eat the food.
Dear Jennifer, you are absolutely right! I’ve really got to change my thinking to improve upon my eating habits. Thank you for helping me to begin to be more self-disciplined and positive about my eating habits, especially since I’ve been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I’m realizing that I’ve got to allow the Holy Spirit to help guide me in this area of my life as well. After all, gluttony is a sin also.( Deut 20:21). I want to submit my entire self to the control of the Holy Spirit. I must decrease and He increase. Your blog is helping me to consider all my ways and to walk humbly before God. Thank you Holy Spirit for this realization this morning and for Jennifer. Sincerely, Gina
