During the scary times in my life is when I’ve leaned heaviest on God. Years ago, my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was rare and few doctors knew how to treat it then. We were told the best doctors were in California. So, we flew to Los Angeles and spent fifteen days there for his surgery and follow-up appointments. We were told the recovery period would take three months, and it did. God was with us every step of the way.
John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
In A Low Country Dog Walker Mystery series, the main character Andi Grace Scott faces many fears. When both of her parents died the summer before she left for college, she gave up her dreams and stayed home to raise her younger brother and sister. Andi Grace wasn’t sure how she’d manage, but the locals stood by her. She discovered her love of dogs while working with the local veterinarian. When she began her dog-walking business, she faced her fear of failure. When a good friend was murdered in Bite the Dust, Andi Grace took a stand for justice and helped track down the killer.
In Dog-Gone Dead, Andi Grace finds another dead body, and her brother is the most obvious suspect. She faces her fear of losing him to prison and starts another informal investigation.
Andi Grace is a believer who feels closest to God at the beach. We all need a place where we can relax and experience God’s goodness. This is actually where I feel closest to God too. I’d love to hear about your favorite spot to spend time with God.
Dog-Gone Dead is the second book in A Low Country Dog Walker mystery series.
Who’d have thought mulch could cause such a stink?
Low Country dog walker Andi Grace Scott is happy to score some free mulch from one of her brother’s landscaping jobs—until she discovers the dead body buried beneath the bark.
Worse, her brother’s landscaping tools were used to commit the murder. Once the police arrest her brother and seem happy to have “caught their man,” Andi Grace has no choice but to track down the real killer. She’ll risk everything to prove her brother’s innocence. Even if it means turning over every rock in town.

Jackie has lived her whole life in the South. Kentucky then Georgia, back to Kentucky and now South Carolina. She’s a quick golf cart ride from the nearest beach and loving life on the coast.
As a child Jackie loved to read, play with her dolls and play Barbies. In high school she dreamed of stories she’d write, but she didn’t pursue the dream until her youngest son was in high school. One day she thought she better start learning or it was never going to happen.
After the birth of her first son, Jackie became a sports fan in order to carry on conversations with her husband and two sons. This girly girl learned to understand baseball, football, basketball, soccer and tennis and spent years cheering for her boys.
Jackie enjoys exploring the Low Country of South Carolina where she set her fictional town of Heyward Beach. She spends her time working as a pharmacist, volunteering with a children’s afterschool program, getting involved at her new church, and of course writing cozy mysteries.
Thanks so much for hosting me, Jenni!
Oh, Jackie….I didn’t know about the experience you and your husband faced. What a powerful testimony. You have used this challenge by making Andi Grace such an admirable young woman. I feel closest to God either surrounded by my family or up in the mountains. Thanks for sharing your heart!
The mountains are a great place to spend time with God too! And yes, family is great!
Jackie, I had no idea your husband had a brain tumor. How scary! And I’m so glad everything worked out good.
I definitely recommend this book!!!
Thanks so much, Connie!
