Ecclesiastes begins with the rant that, “Everything is meaningless—completely meaningless.” And…it certainly can feel that way sometimes. Life just isn’t fair. Sometimes injustice reigns. The feeling of hurt and loss can be overwhelming.
But…that is why scripture tells us to look at Jesus—not on those earthly dealings. When I do, I feel overwhelming peace even when nothing has changed. And…I gain a new perspective on how to deal with those other things.
I can go on. I can keep trying to do good even when it feels like everything is meaningless and no one really cares. It’s a lie that no one cares. Most people are looking for the good in life. Actually, we long for it. I can refuse to give up because I have God on my side, lifting my head and hands.
