Babies with cancer is an oxymoron. There’s no reason under the sun why a beautiful, innocent baby should be ravaged with an ugly disease. It just doesn’t make sense. But it happens…It just happens.
We all want to ask why when things don’t make sense. Asking why, although perfectly normal and natural, isn’t helpful.
We may never know why. There may never be an answer.
We just have to do whatever we can to help and bring comfort.
And God is there to comfort anyone that has to witness such a tragedy. That is the good that can come from it. God draws the brokenhearted to Himself—so close that you just might hear his steady breath in your ear.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me. ~ Psalm 23:4
Lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age. ~ Matthew 28:20
Dark times show us that God is indeed with us in the midst of them. We often see this more in hindsight than during the present but it’s true nonetheless.
Intense need tends to dispel atheism and agnosticism. The more we need God, the more we want to believe He’s there and He’s there for us.
When the darkness falls in all around you, pause for a moment and remember that He is with you then keep moving forward, knowing in your heart that you’re only going through the shadow of death. You are not staying there. God won’t leave you there forever.
Remember that the Lord does direct your steps and He is sovereign over everything that happens. However, this sovereignty over the situation doesn’t mean that He planned it or even allowed it. His planning our steps means that He simply has seen the evil that we would have to go through in advance. Therefore, He has designed the plan that would help us get through that dark path.
So when you’re suffering, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you. ~ 1 Peter 4:19
