Stress is a part of life. But it doesn’t have to rule your life. Here are five ways to handle your stress and thrive through it.
- Confess Sin
1 John 1:9 says that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Confessing wrongdoing will clear your conscience and free you to live that life that God intended you to live.
Thank you, Lord, for when I confess my sin, you wash me clean and give me a fresh start each morning.
- Move Daily
The bible talks mainly about growing in godliness and building your character but in 1 Timothy 4:8 it also says that physical training is of some value. Physical training takes care of the body that you were so graciously given by God. It’s a gift. Make the most of it. Gain health and energy so you can also grow your character in godliness.
Thank you, Lord, for giving me a body that moves wonderfully. Not everyone has this opportunity. I don’t want to take it for granted.
- A Little Bible Each Day
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Keep learning more and more of the truth. It is life for your soul.
Thank you, Lord, for giving us your wisdom so that we can really live. Your word is life.
- Praise and Sing to God
Sing to and praise the Lord as long as you live (Psalm 104:33). It will bring a smile to your face even amid your problems. Singing to God brings you a heavenly perspective and a feeling that things will work out eventually.
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Morning by morning new mercies I see.
- Rejoice, Pray, and Give Thanks
All three of these ways to reduce stress come from one sentence of scripture: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
Rejoice that God is with you to help you.
Pray more often than you feel like it.
Give thanks daily for God’s provision and love for you.
Repeat.
Always remember that God is the blessed controller of all things. And you are not. Look to Him and His perspective every day.
