Walking in freedom can be broken down into three steps.
- Do what is right.
Doing what is right is two-fold. On one level it means to treat people with fairness and the same way you would like to be treated. On the next level, it means to do what you were created to do—that thing that when you do it, you light up inside.
- Love mercy.
You begin with treating other people with fairness and respect but you don’t stop there. You continue further and show mercy to them. Sometimes you have to look beyond what they do to why they did it. Find out what makes them tick so to speak. And always remember that we are all broken and messed up people and no one is beyond the need of compassion.
- Walk humbly with your God.
Then you need to know the God that created you. You can know Him by reading the Bible and then seeking to follow His guidance. He loves you and will help you. Seek and you will find.
No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. ~ Micah 6:8
